As you know, the General Education Review and Inquiry committee is now in the design phase. To garner ideas from as many colleagues as possible, we invite participation in two kinds of activities. First, GERI members are happy to attend unit meetings at your invitations. We’ll send a more detailed information to Deans, Chairs, and Directors.
Second, we’re holding eleven abbreviated versions of the Design-a-palooza event. As we reported in our January 22 email, a raw compilation of Design-a-Palooza reports is available, as is now a synthesis of ideas. The upcoming sessions will focus on the 5 outcomes we didn’t take up January 11.
We’ve scheduled four opportunities for most topics, at a range of times. We’ll serve a light lunch and get straight to an activity. Participants will work in small groups on a structured design task, moving from generating ideas, to looking for themes, to mocking up an idea for prototyping. Sessions will be capped at 20.
These Sessions Will Focus on 5 Outcomes through 6 Session: (listed here in abbreviated form from the Full Mission, Vision, and Outcomes):
- 1A. The ability to address complex questions by applying and synthesizing knowledge of human cultures. Mon 11, Tue 12, Thu 26, Mon 25
- 1B. The ability to address complex questions by applying and synthesizing knowledge of the physical world. Wed 13, Thu 19, Wed 20, Tue 26
