DU has the responsibility and power to
solve complex problems,
engage multiple perspectives,
nourish democracy,
foster greater belonging,
show compassion beyond boundaries, and
shape the future of our world.
We also believe that DU has yet to fully activate that power.
Through the Community + Values initiative, DU will explore what it means to be an academic community. We will create and participate in collective experiences. And we will strive to understand how best to evolve our culture and systems and re-examine our values.
History
In the listening portion of DU IMPACT 2025, Chancellor Emerita Chopp and the planning team heard a desire for an increased sense of belonging on DU’s campus. In the fall of 2018, the Chancellor’s Office pulled together a group of campus leaders, the convening group, to co-create a plan for our community.
In the beginning of 2019, members of the C+V convening group met with groups across campus to validate the need for such an initiative. The meetings affirmed that longing and validated the hypothesis that there is a need and desire for a DU collective identity. Learn more!
In the summer and fall of 2019, the 29-person strong C+V Steering Committee was formed. Since then, the C+V initiative has hosted a variety of events. To get involved and keep up to date on all C+V programming, visit community.du.edu.
