History of Developing the DU Alumni Council:

At DU, there are many opportunities to serve on alumni boards or councils within a school or surrounding a particular program. In alignment with DU IMPACT 2025 and efforts to engage more of the alumni community with the University as a whole, in 2019, we launched a task force to explore a university-wide Alumni Council. This Council will serve as an influential alumni community actively involved in advancing One DU and connecting our Global Network. The Alumni Council was created and officially started in January 2020.

Task Force Objectives:

  1. Develop charter, focus, and strategic objectives for the Council
  2. As a Task Force, develop timeline and deliverables leading up to and including the launch of the Alumni Council
  3. Recommend the makeup of Council membership that is led by the spirit of One DU. What characteristics make up the ideal Council member? What is the appropriate size for such a Council? What is the appropriate local and regional representation the Council should aspire to?
  4. Project the primary accomplishments and contributions of the council for its first years of

existence. What are members expected to do individually and as a community?

  5. Specifically address how this Council will develop alumni leaders in the following areas:

brand ambassadorship, volunteerism and community impact, and alumni giving.

  6. What value will the members of the Council personally derive that will anchor sustained

    engagement and participation.
