The Faculty Council members serve in an advisory capacity of DU’s Career & Professional Development’s mission, services and programs. The Council is committed to ensuring that DU students and Career & Professional Development have optimal and mutually beneficial interactions.

  • The members gives feedback and discusses trends regarding innovative programming, services and events that will support DU students’ career development and milestones.
  • The Faculty Council also advises on new initiatives and proposes innovative ideas for improvement in programs and services that help us better serve students in career planning and professional preparation, including preparation for graduate and professional school.
  • The members advocate and promote our offerings to students on a regular basis, give ideas on how to scale career development in the classroom, and provide insights on students’ career development challenges.

At DU students will acquire the skills they need to navigate their lives and careers as they learn to take charge of their educational journey and develop the knowledge base and competencies they need to thrive in life and work in the 21st century. The effort of preparing and equipping students as they launch into their future is not the work of any one office but rather is accomplished by leveraging a collaborative network of faculty, staff, alumni, industry partners, parents and community members that will strengthen academic and co-curricular programs and offer many other holistic benefits.

DU faculty are a key and important partner to help DU achieve 90% engagement of undergraduates with Career & Professional Development by the time they graduate. The Faculty Council creates a forum for Career & Professional Development to receive feedback and ideas from faculty and share information about the strategic direction that Career & Professional Development is implementing. The Faculty Council also strengthens the career programs through the delivery of consistent messaging about engaged learning opportunities to students that reflects the career milestones that we hope each student will complete while an undergraduate or graduate student at DU.

Specific emphasis will be placed on the four DU Career Achievement milestones: Map Your Path, Build Your Connections, Gain Professional Experience, and Launch Your Future.
