A two-year pilot program was funded to improve metadata and reporting about DU authors, which should increase visibility of individual authors and the university, thereby leading to greater citation counts and over time, a rise in international higher education rankings.

There are three aspects of this project:

  • Cleaning up the metadata in Activity Insight so that it may be used as a reliable and trusted source for reporting accurately about the publications of DU authors (pilot underway)
  • Working with our faculty to establish standard identifiers (ORCID) that associate them to all of their publications (and hence to DU)
  • Maximizing the accuracy of institutional affiliation data in Scopus, Web of Science, and other article indexes used to calculate citation counts and institutional rankings

DU Connect:

DU Connect is our searchable, self-updating database of faculty research and expertise. You can search by research topic and instantly find DU colleagues doing work in that field. This achievement has required herculean efforts by several teams across campus, and we encourage all faculty to update your information on Activity Insight, as DU Connect pulls from that application.

DU Connect Database

Please send feedback to Chase McNamee.

The vision is to create a system that accesses information on faculty research, bios, publications and more, and will eventually encompass staff, coaches, and student expertise. This system will be accessible to and searchable by all members of the DU community and eventually external audiences and will ultimately help foster cross-campus collaboration among faculty, staff and students.
